Mother's Day

Mother's Day is a big deal in Peru.  On Friday, there were no classes.  Instead, the kids at Colegio San Lucas presented a 3 hour program to honor mothers!  There is a short video at the bottom.
First, a couple of the moms helped raise the Peruvian flag.
Then there was a service officiated by Padre Juan Carlos.  Padre Juan Marcos and Vicar Daniel were also there.

A couple of the older kids did the opening dance.
Diego Armando (on the left) getting ready for his part.
Rosa Maria in full swing.
Yasmin looks like she's having fun!

Tamara and Isela getting ready to perform.

Padre Juan Carlos goofing off with a gorilla.
Waldir dancing with his grade.

And finally, a special thank you to moms.  You can see Pamela on the far right and Isela in the back.

This is a video of one of the traditional Peruvian dances performed by the kids.  Tamara, Pamela and Isela are in this one.

Team from St. Matthew's Dallas

The St. Matthew's team visited the kids several times during the week after their work at Santiago Apostol.  One of the projects was to make animal masks which tied into Tia Betty's lesson on creation.

Tio Alan and kids listen intently.

Tio Danny helps Pamela make her mask.
Katiuska helps sis, Tamara.
And Marta works with Juan Diego.  They seem to be concentrating pretty hard!
I'm not really helping...Wilber and I are just playing around!
Tamara looks so cute with her pink mask! :)

Later, Wilber gets into character!

Of course, the ball eventually gets hit over the wall so a group take off to retrieve it from next door.

And...the ball is dead!
The kids have made their own tree swing.  Diego Armando takes a ride.

Some of the older girls relax on the fence.

Pamela and Gimena "cook" for their dog Lucky.

The team brought the kids these crazy block things.  They had a fun time trying to figure it out.

Estrella likes her creation.

Waldir is pretty happy with his, too.

Yasmin and Lisbeth are still trying to decide what to make.
