The kids get to know our new missionary, Madison!

Madison Murray is our new short-term missionary in Arequipa!  She met the kids for the first time on Wednesday and brought a paper flower making craft to share with them.  Jimena appreciates some help with hers.
Juan Diego works diligently on his flower.
As do Milagros, Rosa and Isela, making beautiful creations.
Maria's final product.
Tamara hard at work.
Wilber does not want his picture taken!
But I finally get him with Juan Diego blowing up their soccer balls.

With a separate donation from a generous young boy in Texas, I was able to buy some magnetic dart boards for the kids.  They really enjoyed them.

Two new girls at Sagrada Familia

Our two new girls are sisters from outside of Cuzco.  They have come to Sagrada Familia out of a situation of extreme poverty.  Saturday was their first full day there so we did some crafts with all their new "brothers and sisters" who have all been very welcoming.

This is Maria.  She is 10 years old.

This is Milagros.  She is 9 years old.

Arelis shows off her creation.

Diego Armando made a footprint design for Milagros.

And plays with his snack!

Katiuska is making a birthday card for her sister Tamara.

This is a close up of it...how sweet!

Hermelinda works with Maria on their art creations.

Isela is explaining the "Roof Dogs" to Maria and showing them their pictures.

Jimena hard at work.

Juan Diego makes a little photo album with pictures only of Tia Susan and Tio Bob.  Hmmm...I think he misses someone!

Maria likes her new "glasses."

Vacation Week

July 28th is Peru's Independence Day so the schools were closed and the kids had the week off.  These are some pictures of a few things they did this week.

On Sunday, some of the kids helped Padre Juan Carlos with his sermon by holding up portions of the Lord's Prayer.  From left to right: Juan Diego, Marta, Rosa, Tamara and Padre Juan Carols.
Jimena and Wilber (on the far right) showed off their work from Sunday School class.
On Monday, Padre Daniel took the kids (and me) to a nice restaurant called Fong Mey.  The kids requested Chifa which is a blend of Chinese food and Peruvian food.
Once the food arrived, everyone dug in.
Hermelinda helps herself to the rice while Isela waits her turn.
Our hosts: Padre Daniel, his wife Vique, Deacon Victor and Senor Pedro, the director of Sagrada Familia.
Juan Diego getting ready to fill his plate.
Katiuska is eating some kind fish head!
Lizbeth and Estrella  share some food.
Hermelinda is still enjoying her rice.

Afterward, they got to look at the fish tank in the lobby of the restaurant.

On Wednesday, thanks to a special donation, the kids got to go see a movie.  We saw "Despicable Me 2".

Also waiting patiently, Marta, Katiuska and Waldir.

The boys really liked the escalator.

Afterwards, thumbs up for great movie!

Just a couple of random pics of the kids enjoying the library.  This is Juan Diego in the reading corner.
